Revision 1.04 of the OPC UA protocol introduces the PubSub mechanism, as opposed to the Client/Server, on several transport layers including MQTT.
Since 2018, S2OPC includes PubSub over UDP. Latest release also includes the MQTT PubSub variant.
As OPC UA PubSub over UDP and Raw Ethernet targets real time communications when associated for example with TSN, OPC UA PubSub over MQTT allows cloud connectivity with solutions such as Azure IoT.
