Features January 2025
With revision 1.6.0, S2OPC continues to evolve with new features and security improvements, including:
- OPC UA Events Management: fire or subscribe to standardized OPC UA events
- Zephyr 3.6 Support: now fully compatible with the latest version of this real-time operating system
- PikeOS 5.1 Support: developed in collaboration with our partner, SYSGO
- MbedTLS 3.6 Integration: switch to the new LTS revision of the MbedTLS library with bug-fixes and security fixes until at least March 2027
- Python binding PyS2OPC: completely reworked, including the addition of method call capabilities and documentation improvement
Why update to revision 1.6.0?
This release includes important cybersecurity fixes. For this reason, Systerel recommends all users to upgrade to ensure optimal security and functionality.
Please note that the legacy client API is now deprecated and only kept for retro-compatibility. It will be removed in the next major revision.
The version upgrade from 1.5.0 to 1.6.0 should be smooth, with minimal disruption, as the API maintains its stability and consistency.
What’s next ?
Event management support is paving the way towards the introduction of audit events and Alarm & Conditions.These features are planned for the 2025 releases.
